How WMTS Brought Cybersecurity to the 2025 SKC Golf Classic

How WMTS Brought Cybersecurity to the 2025 SKC Golf Classic

Business leaders came to golf, and left with a cybersecurity score. On July 18, the South Kent Chamber of Commerce hosted its 2nd Annual Golf Classic at The Pines Golf Course in Wyoming, Michigan. It was a great summer day for networking, community connection, and a unique opportunity to talk cybersecurity right from the green.

West Michigan Technology Services (WMTS) was proud to be one of the sponsors of this year’s event, and even prouder to be part of the conversation.

Connecting Cybersecurity to Community

West Michigan Technology Services, set up a full booth onsite, offering golfers something unexpected: real-time cybersecurity insights. Between swings and socializing, attendees stopped by for:

  • Free dark web breach scans

  • Personalized cybersecurity score assessments

  • A look at how their organization’s data might already be exposed online

The setup was simple but powerful. Many business owners and leaders were shocked to learn their usernames and passwords were already circulating on the dark web, and that no one had told them until now.

The Experience: Live Scans, Real Results, and Summer Survival Packs

Throughout the morning,The West Michigan Technology Services team walked participants through their scan results, explained what each score meant, and answered security questions in real time. No sales pitch, just real conversations with business owners who care about protecting their data.

To top it off, WMTS handed out Summer Survival Packs to help guests beat the heat, stay comfortable, and remember the importance of protecting what matters, whether it’s on the course or in the cloud.

The Partnership: Supporting the South Kent Business Community

Events like the SKC Golf Classic are about more than just showing up, they’re about being an active, helpful partner in the local business ecosystem.

WMTS has always believed in leading with value, and Rick’s presence at the outing reflects that commitment. Whether it’s helping a manufacturer boost their defenses or offering live scans at a Chamber event, the mission stays the same: make cybersecurity accessible, understandable, and actionable.

We’re grateful to the South Kent Chamber of Commerce for hosting this incredible event and for providing a space where business, security, and community can come together.
